'Shiny Little Blessings' Partners up with 'Family Promise' of the Southbay

Giving Back: Feeding Body, Mind and Soul

We are so excited to partner up with 'Family Promise' of the Southbay.

After searching for almost a year, we have found our perfect match.

Family Promise has a holistic approach to helping homeless families. They transform the lives of homeless families by engaging local communities to help support homeless families through resources, shelter, support and services.

The first Family Promise program began in 1986 in Union City, NJ, after Karen Olson noticed a need in her community and turned to places of worship to form the first Interfaith Hospitality Network. There are now more than 200 networks in 42 states across the U.S

Our vintage spoon collection was designed with Body, Mind and Soul in mind - 'feeding' homeless families with a holistic approach to get them back on their own feet. 15% of the proceeds of this collection go back to 'Family Promise' of the Southbay.

Did you know that homeless rates in Los Angeles CA are up by 23% from last year?

Did you know that 3,000 children in the Southbay of Los Angeles are reported to be homeless?

Did you know that there are over 57,000 homeless people in LA County with 74% remaining unsheltered?

How blessed are we to have roofs over our heads?? Life happens and it can happen to anyone of us. So let's help those that are less fortunate.

Why do I help?

We all have our own stories. Some we share regularly and others we don't. Here is a little bit of my own story:

I know from my own experience that life can happen. You can loose it all in the blink of an eye and not because you are lazy, into drugs, mentally ill, or any of the other stigmas that homelessness has. Our family went thru a very painful period when we lost everything in a housefire in 2007. The insurance refused to pay. Thanks to family and friends, and a strong will to start over, we got back onto our feet. Situations and experiences like these give us a chance to grow and become more. It's the struggles in life that make us stronger and let us grow wings. Life is happening FOR us, not TO us. Today, I am back on top of my game, but I am humble and grateful for all that I got, because I know how precious life is. And I look at lifes' challenges as a gift. They have made me into the person that I am today. And because of those experiences I can give back and this is what makes life meaningful.

With much love and gratitude,

Sabine xoxo

Helping one Homeless Student at a Time

Did you know 20% of Los Angeles community college students are homeless and nearly two-thirds are food insecure? Across the country, the number of homeless students is 14%. Shocking?? I think so!

'Shiny Little Blessings' is helping one student at a time.

Meet Jaslyn:

★ Jaslyn is 21 years old
★ Jaslyn has been homeless for 4 years
★ Jaslyn came from a broken home
★ Jaslyn is in her final year at Cal State Dominguez Hills with a double major in dance and Sociology
★ Jaslyn is working two jobs while going to school
★ Jaslyns' Dreams & Passions: dance, becoming a marriage and family counselor.
★ What Jaslyn needs the most: a place to take a daily shower, food, a roof over her head, a car.

With the purchase of ONE of our 'Let your dreams take flight' necklaces at https://www.etsy.com/listing/554784785 , Jaslyn will be able to take a shower every day for an ENTIRE month.

So please help us by sharing this post!!

With much love,
~ Sabine

I am so proud to say that these young talented and phenomenal voices are now wearing Shiny Little Blessings jewelry. Their amazing coach Ayline Amirayan surprised each one of them with a microphone necklace to which they can add on charms and engraved pendants in the future.

Thank you Ayline for letting Shiny Little Blessings jewelry be a part of your inspiration for those amazing young girls!!
